ZAPATA MIDDLE SCHOOL

GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded program designed to increase college and career readiness for students. At Zapata Middle School, GEAR UP provides academic support, mentoring, guidance, and family engagement opportunities to help students prepare for success after high school. Through workshops, tutoring, college visits, and partnerships with local colleges and organizations, GEAR UP empowers students to set goals, build strong study habits, and explore future career pathways. Families are also a vital part of the program, receiving resources and information to support their child’s educational journey. Our mission is to ensure that every student has the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue higher education and achieve lifelong success.
